Junior Bowler Posts: 97 ![]() ![]() ![]() | http://www.buddiesproshop.com/, http://www.bowlingball.com/bowling-balls.html?Manufacturer=Pyramid,... http://www.kkbowl.com/dv8.html These are not any "buddies" to local pro shop operators, I understand that 'bowling ball.com' and "kkkkkkkkkokokok' might be a good value and alot of fun, but all they do is make it ALOT more difficult for the local PRO SHOP person to make it. These may have great values, but in the end...don't you want your ball driller to stay? thanks for listening. PSG(Pro Shop Guy)

League Bowler Posts: 245 ![]() ![]() ![]() | I think that in America, everyone has the choice to go the direction they want when it comes to buying equipment. I personally do not buy bowling balls off the internet, but it is every persons right to do so, and every pro shop operators right to charge an inflated rate to drill these balls. The internet has made it "easy" for all people to purchase what they want, for any number of reasons. Price is probably followed closely by convenience, or vice versa. I don't think that it makes any particular company "bad" for trying to make a buck by operating a business this way. I think that the knowledge you get from your local pro shop operator is part of the total cost of getting equipment from them. In my opinion it is money WELL SPENT!!! Knowledge is more important than attempting to save a few $$$$$

Junior Bowler Posts: 97 ![]() ![]() ![]() | I agree that it is a right of choice and a freedom for Americans to do what they want. I pose this question: Is it worth it to save 5% on average just to get something from someone who considers you as just, "another number", noone that you will ever see(face to face) and if it affects your "FRIENDS and their FAMILIes" to the extent that they may have to leave the area...thus, then these friends and family members would not be able to play on a TEAM with you? The knowledge that a pro shop DRILLer can give you is INVALUABLE and this comes from TIPS, FREE ADVICE, and Clinics to promote the game. One last question, just because something is free to you it isnt to your friends and family members. This will make the pro shop person reanalyze what this website stands for. thanks for the opportunity to give my opinion. I'm out, PSG Edited by Pro Shop Guy 2012-01-27 12:32 AM

Bantam Posts: 20 | There are fewer than 10 full time pro shop operaters who have been in the business over ten years. If you count bowling only shops that number might be under 5. The level of experience, quality, and service is very different between full time specialists and part time. Most people have had part time and full time jobs. You have a greater commitment to your full time job. If the internet trend continues there will be fewer and fewer ft shops. Most of us complain about poor service in retail businesses. But we also go to the places with the lowest prices. We get what we pay for. slowbowler

Scratch Bowler Posts: 336 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'm a buyer for a living. One of the basic rules is if you buy as much as you can from one person/vendor your big picture deal most often is better than buying one thing from one place and one from another. Customers that try to save dimes don't realize they might be stepping over dollars to pick up those dimes. If you buy all your stuff from one place and show some loyalty you will probably get some breaks from that owner at some point............be it on shoes, lessons, advice, layouts, etc. If I were in PSG's position I sure would spend a lot more time taking care of someone that bought their balls, shoes, etc from me than that person that brings in an internet ball. I'm punching holes in that ball and charging max price. So did you really save that much? What if the advice your PSG gave you got you a ball that wins you a ton of pots or some money in tourneys??? Plus, unless you know bowling ball technical specs you may be buying something that doesn't fit your game off the interweb. Moral of the story....................BUY FROM YOUR LOCAL PRO SHOP GUYS!!!!!! There are a lot of good ones in this area. Edited by Askinn 2012-02-02 5:59 PM
